About the speaker :
Patricia De Zwaef
Art Historian
Certified expert for the 19th and 20th centuries
Description: How can you tell the difference between a bronze replicate and an original? Is the lithograph you are considering to buy signed by the artist himself? Does this have an impact on the selling price? How do you read the back of a painting?
These are some of the topics that will be discussed during the lecture with Art Historian Patricia De Zwaef. She will provide advice on techniques, stamps, signatures, labels, notions of prints, editions and reproduction.
A special focus will be placed on the importance of good provenance determination in authenticating and evaluating a piece of art.
This lecture will leave the audience informed and reassured of what to look out for when buying art and what questions to ask the dealer (whether in a gallery, a public sale or a fair).
Please note that the presentation will be held in French.

Aurore Morisse

Television, for its part, has not lost any of its splendour since today we play at the right price. The customer is at the source of the information and (re)discovers the treasures that the last generation has dusted off.
But at what price? Market value, sentimental value? What if television was a speculative player in market trends?

CONFERENCE – JEANNE TOUSSAINT, THE GREAT BELGIAN LADY OF CARTIER
About the speaker :
Laure Dorchy
Art Historian
Independent expert specialising in the history of jewellery and goldsmithing.
Professor & lecturer on the history of jewellery and silverware.
Description : In 1933, Louis Cartier entrusted Jeanne Toussaint with the artistic direction of his Parisian Haute Joaillerie house.
How did the panther, as she was nicknamed, a young Belgian woman of modest origin, freshly arrived in Paris during the Belle Epoque, become the creator of many mythical jewels and the artistic director of the famous Cartier house?
Her nickname comes from her fierce and inflexible character. But also because of this jewel – one of her most famous creations – launched in the 1950s and featuring a panther.
Against a historical background, Laure Dorchy will review the incredible destiny of Jeanne Toussaint, the “Cartier panther”, who enabled the House of Cartier to weather the economic, political and societal crises by adapting the jewel to financial constraints, making it more contemporary and appropriate to the transformation of the female condition.
Evolving in an almost exclusively masculine fashion, she will not only find her place but will justify it by her sensitivity as a woman who responds to the need to create luxury products intended for women, whereas before her arrival, strangely enough, only men designed Cartier jewellery.
Please note that the talk will be held in French!
