The Rudolf Gallery has been in existence for over 48 years. It was founded in 1977 in Heidelberg, where it was initially based, before moving to Keitum on the island of Sylt from 1994 to 2021. Since 2004, the gallery has also been located in Kampen on the island of Sylt. The gallery’s work focuses on the great painters and important artistic movements of the 20th century: international classics such as Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Georges Braque and Joan Miro rub shoulders with German expressionist and abstract painters. It houses important groups of works by Otto Dix, Lyonel Feinninger, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Max Pechstein, Erich Heckel and HAP Grieshaber, as well as works by Willi Baumeister, Ida Kerkovius and Max Ackermann, to whom the gallery pays particular attention. Due to the gallery’s location, artists such as Will Sohl, Otto Eglau, Emil and Dorothea Maetzel-Johannsen and Klaus Fußmann are also represented. Gernot Rudolf is also one of today’s most knowledgeable dealers in drawings by Heinrich Zille; his collections of works by this important Berlin artist of the turn of the century are remarkable and representative.
In addition to its work on Sylt, the Rudolf Gallery presents an overview of its programme at numerous art fairs each year.
